Context
Deloitte's finance and operations team developed 5 different GenAI chat bot solutions to help federal agencies increase their efficiency. The team realized their product wasn't human-centered or accessible, so they reached out to me and another designer for a design analysis and overhaul.
Problem
The development team created 5 different GenAI solutions, but their tools aren't user-friendly, modern, or accessible.
Solution
We identified usability errors and redesigned a brand new platform. I created a design system, and a new interface that compiles all of their solutions into one platform with multiple features.
Impact
By deciding on a one-stop-shop, users only need to use one tool to access all 5 solutions. Our design is currently in development, and will be launched to federal agencies such as the CDC, VA, and NASA to support their finance and operations sectors.
Approach
We conducted a design analysis to evaluate the current AI solutions and determine usability errors and opportunity for improvement.
Some of the issues we found were poor color contrast, unintuitive navigability and labeling, and inconsistency.
After our analysis, we presented our findings and came to the agreement that a complete overhaul of the original design is necessary to ensure this product was usable.
Design System
I created a micro design system to ensure consistency across the different AI solutions. The team found this especially helpful as it also specified code, all necessary components, accessible color contrast, and saved us on design and development time.
After creating our brand colors, I created an color contrast matrix to ensure that color contrast would always follow WCAG AA guidelines. This was essential in maintaining usability and accessibility for all users.
Final Design
Using the findings from our design analysis, as well as the design system, I redesigned a brand new and modernized platform that is more accessible and user-friendly. We created a dashboard interface that holds all 5 GenAI solutions under one platform, to help federal agencies improve their finance and operations efficiency.
